FAQs

How many people are in your organization?

The number of partners engaged on each project varies with scope. For example, Commissioning Services may involve one team member, whereas a full MEPFP design project may include up to 8-10 members of our organization along with our trusted associates.

What size projects do you typically undertake? What is the largest project you have executed?
Typical project construction costs for mechanical/HVAC designs typically range from $200K to $2.5Mil. We are currently executing a $7.5Mil project that includes $2.7Mil for mechanical, HVAC and plumbing scope.
What type of Construction Services do you perform?
Aside from development of Construction Drawings, We typically perform normal construction administration for projects that we design. We lead construction coordination, develop fully coordinated Revit models, issue fabrication level drawings and have issued spool drawings. Our firm supports commissioning activities from third party commissioning agents and can perform commissioning for new or existing buildings.Do you perform design studies and building surveys?
Do you perform design studies and building surveys?

We offer full building HVAC, Mechanical and Plumbing surveys. We can also perform electrical and fire protection surveys based on Owner provided information. These surveys include partnering with Owner personnel for operational information and may include working with Test and Balance Contractors or companies that provide 3-D scans. Owner maintenance and operational and utility information along with existing equipment information is key to developing load models that can be used to properly develop the final reports.

How do you handle project cost estimates for your Clients?

Based on over 10 years of design-build estimating experience, we routinely contact equipment providers for equipment pricing and perform detailed cost budget estimates. Our early design efforts identify challenges such that all costs can be accounted for as we feel budgeting is the most important phase of any project.

How are Commercial projects different from Industrial projects?
Commercial project deliverables may include Schematic Design narratives, Design Development documents, Construction Documents and Specifications. The level of completion for each deliverable typically follows AIA conventions. Many of our industrial Clients utilize stage-gate project delivery methods which implement a front-end loaded design. Deliverables may include Basis of Design documents, Issued for Review and Issued for Approval documents. We have successfully executed several types of delivery models.
Do you perform energy analysis?
We utilize the Carrier Hourly Analysis Program to perform comparative energy load modeling based on system options being considered. Obtaining Client utility bills and understanding rate structures along with building use and occupancy is very important for accurate modeling.
Do you train and mentor your associates?
I am a published author of HVAC training courses and have developed several presentations covering topics such as Code Basics, HVAC Zoning, Fan Curve Analysis, Refrigeration Piping, Understanding the Commissioning Process, Pump Basics, Psychrometrics, ASME Pipe Designations and more. Working with interns over the years, I find that spending time establishing these basic concepts are key to developing knowledgeable associates that can perform work independently.
